The Problem
How can we improve our dashboard? Well, that’s a pretty broad question.
Analyzing the Problem
What do users expect and want from their dashboard?
Based on our user interviews, industry reports and discussions with internal advisors/staff:
They expect historical data on their investment accounts
They want to understand their investment accounts in the context of their life and goals
They want to understand how the market will/has impacted their investments
What are the business goals?
Create an industry leading dashboard that stands above competitors – something our clients will love
What isn’t working with the current dashboard?
It only tells a user historical data and nothing else
It doesn’t give a user a compelling reason to check back
For a key part of the client experience, there’s nothing that makes it stand out against other investing dashboards
It was built with old technology and the design is severely outdated
Dashboard Redesign
We need to show more than historical performance. We have to tie what they’re doing today to their future and how we can help.
Investing is long-term. Showing “what’s new” since their last visit gives them something new on every login.
Letting client customize their account image introduces authentic visual interest - something rare in investing software.
In client interviews, a common concern was “how will the market or current events impact my investments?” We could provide market commentary specific to exactly what they’re invested in - especially in times of turmoil.
Adding a “future” to historical performance could provide an easy to understand bridge to financial planning, a key benefit of the business to clients.
